The Australian Literacy Clinic specialises in assisting children who have difficulties with reading. ALC is committed to thorough and
appropriate assessment, planning and intervention strategies. We recognise the importance of Working Memory in reading and learning. Our Reading
Program has been designed in accordance with research into Working Memory. We work with Psychologists, Paediatricians, GPs, Occupational Therapists,
Speech Therapists and other health professionals to implement appropriate individual reading programs for all children.
The Australian Literacy Clinic runs clinics in both the Newcastle and Maitland areas, working with a range of Health and
Educational Professionals to assist children with various learning difficulties such as:
 Dyslexia- Autism
- Asperger Syndrome
- ADD and ADHD
- Sensory Integration Dysfunction
- Phonological awareness issues
- Speech related issues
- General reading difficulties
The Australian Literacy Clinic conducts intensive testing of all children who are referred to us and responds with detailed reporting to all
those involved in the child's care. Such intensive and thorough testing allows us to appropriately plan reading programs for these
children.
The Australian Literacy Clinic consists of a group of professionals who are dedicated to increasing the literacy rates of
all children irrespective of location, personal and/or educational issues.
